Fine sweet red wines

I got a question from Dana (that you can read here) about good sweet wines. First, thank you Dana for your question. This is exactly the objective of this blog; sharing information. I don't pretend that I am an expert but I love wine and I love to share my toughts about it. So, let me suggest you to wines that are under $13 CAN that you will probably like

First, the Domaine des Moulines 2004, Vin de Pays de l'Herault. This Merlot is probably the best in its category. Juicy with a great taste of fresh fruits.

The other one is Domaine du Lys 1004, Vin de pays des Cevennes. 2004 is a very good year for this wine. A point of interest, in 1996, Domaine du Lys became the first french vineyard to be own by Quebec citizens.

Brouilly, Georges Duboeuf

This is my wife's favorite wine. If I want to please her, I just have to buy her a Brouilly from Georges Duboeuf. Not that this wine is exceptional but it is just that it brings her good memories ;-)

This Beaujolais is, in fact, very good. Made all of Gamay, it has a generous aroma of red fruits and plum. And Georges Duboeuf produces, in my opinion, the best wine of this appellation. Not an everyday wine because its price is a little bit higher (around $20 CAN) but once in a while it is well worth it.
